2. Sender Configuration
1 IP Address & Port
Click the IP selector icon to display available IP addresses (Figure 3-1).
How to Choose an IP Address
- If both computers are on the same LAN, select the local IP address.
- If the sender is a cloud server, use the public IP address.
- If you are unsure, contact technical support: support@squirrelbak.com.
Port
SquirrelBak assigns a port automatically. No changes are required unless specifically needed.
If using cloud server, make sure the corresponding port is allowed in the security group.
2Select Source Folders
You can select up to 3 folders for backup (Figure 3-2-1).
When selecting folders, all detected file extensions are listed.
By default, all are included. You can exclude specific file types as needed.
3Click "Start" to begin
(Figure 3-3) Sender configuration is complete. It is now waiting for the receiver to connect.
Once the receiver is connected, the following information will be displayed.
Receiver Connection: Displays the receiver’s current status and supports remote control.
Total: The total number of files successfully received.
Failed: Includes files skipped by type filter and files that failed to transfer (File in use, access denied, etc.). How do I handle failed files?
3. Receiver Configuration
1Enter or paste the sender's IP address and port
As shown in Figure 4-1
2Select Destination Folder
Select where received files will be stored(Figure 4-2). SquirrelBak will automatically create folders using the sender's backup name.
Backup stops automatically if available space is below 2 GB.
3Click "Connect"
A connection request is sent to the sender(Figure 4-3). Once approved, file transfer begins automatically.
4. Common Features
1Failed File Handling
Click "Failed" to access the "Backup History". SquirrelBak handles the following file types differently:
Extension not in backup file types: Click "Add Backup Types"(Figure 5-1). Check the desired types, and confirm. The files will be backed up in 5 minutes.
Failed transfers: No action required. SquirrelBak will retry automatically in 1 hour.
No extension: Currently not backed up.
The system automatically filters virus-related and temporary file types to ensure safe and reliable backups.

2Check and Complete
From the receiver menu, select Check and Complete to check and sync files created or modified during a selected time period(Figure 5-2). Missing or inconsistent files will be automatically re-synced.
5. Notes
If a power or network interruption occurs, SquirrelBak will automatically restart and resume transfer once the system and network recover.
