How Real-Time Sync Works

SquirrelBak silently copies new and changed files the moment they appear—no manual backup, no delays, no cloud. Just safe, automatic folder backup.

1

Monitor Folder Changes

The SquirrelBak Sender runs quietly on your production PC, watching your selected folders using Windows filesystem events.

As soon as a file is created or modified (e.g., a new document saved), it’s detected instantly—no polling, no delay.

2

Queue for Transfer

Detected files enter a persistent transfer queue to handle bursts of activity smoothly and ensure nothing is missed.

The queue survives reboots, crashes, and network outages—sync resumes exactly where it left off.

3

Filter: Whitelist & Blacklist

Files are checked against your rules before transfer:

  • 🚫 Blacklisted types (e.g., .tmp, .log, .cache) → Skipped
  • Whitelisted types (e.g., .docx, .xlsx, .jpg) → Sent immediately
  • Unknown types → Held in Pending Review (optional alert)

This keeps your backup clean and focused on what matters.

4

Copy to Backup PC

Approved files are securely copied to the SquirrelBak Receiver on your idle PC—located elsewhere (e.g., office, home, closet).

One-way only. No sync conflicts. No restore logic. Just pure, silent, continuous backup—perfect for growing data like documents, reports, and media.
