Welcome to SquirrelBak
These Terms explain how you can use SquirrelBak — a lightweight, local backup tool.
We keep this simple because the software is simple.
1. License: You Can Use It Freely
SquirrelBak is free to download and use forever.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:
- Install the software on your own devices
- Use it for personal or work purposes
- Run both Server and Client on machines you control
You may not:
- Resell, rent, or lease the software
- Reverse-engineer or modify it for redistribution
- Use it in illegal or harmful ways
2. Your Data, Your Responsibility
You own all your files. Always.
SquirrelBak does not claim ownership of any data you back up.
However, we are not responsible for:
- Data loss due to hardware failure
- Incorrect setup (e.g. wrong folder selected)
- Network issues during transfer
- Malware or unauthorized access to your devices
Backup is a safety net — but you must maintain your systems.
3. No Warranty - But We’re Honest
SquirrelBak is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.
This means:
- We do not guarantee it will work perfectly in all situations
- We do not promise it will prevent all data loss
- We are not liable for indirect damages (data, time, profit loss)
But here’s what we do promise:
- We’ll never collect more than file count and extensions
- We’ll keep the software lightweight and private
- We’ll fix critical bugs when found
4. Updates & Support
We may release updates to improve stability or add minor features.
Updates are optional and free.
Support is community-driven via our website and documentation.
We respond to critical bug reports, but do not offer guaranteed response times.
5. Changes to These Terms
If we ever update these Terms, we will post the new version here with a new date.
For major changes, we may add a notice in the app (if possible).
But don’t worry — we won’t sneak in anything unfair.
